The player controls the game’s protagonist, Jack Carver, a former elite US Marine soldier who retired and now earns his living by boating in Micronesia. He must take journalist Valerie Constantine to a group of islands not shown on the map because Valerie supposedly wants to photograph Japanese World War II ruins there. However, on the way back from the island, Carver’s ship was fired upon (with a bazooka) and sank. Under fire from unknown mercenaries, she is dragged into a cave. From this moment the player has control over the piece. On the first level, there is a radio report by the mysterious figure Harlan Doyle. He informs the player about his situation and helps with useful advice.

Gameplay:

The stifling rain forest provides cover-up and suppression, of which the player and enemies can obtain an advantage. Enemies respond dynamically to the player’s approach and actions. If a single-handed mercenary spots a player, he intermittently runs for help, signaling to strengthen through the use of flame guns. The environments include land, water, and enclosed and outdoor structures, throughout various times of the day. The player can jump, crouch lie down, run and look in just about every direction. Sound plays a significant part in the whole gameplay. Through the game, the player encounters numerous weapons from which to decide, as well as automatic weapons and grenades.
